9月，刚果（金）新冠疫情控制部分解除，紫金矿业旗下卡莫阿-卡库拉铜矿员工进一步充实，卡库拉地下矿开发快速推进，共掘进2069米，创月度记录新高，项目已累计完成22.6公里地下开拓工程。
卡库拉矿山多个地下巷道已掘进高品位矿区，铜矿品位约为5%-8%。项目地表矿堆已储备矿石803000吨，其中卡库拉北混合矿堆540000吨、铜品位约3.73%（含125000吨高品位铜矿、铜品位6%），卡库拉南斜坡道矿堆168000吨、铜品位2.73%和卡索科斜坡道矿堆95000吨矿石、铜品位2.34%。
卡库拉矿山正加快南北运输通道贯通，预计11月完成，贯通后将显著提升高品位矿段采掘效率。卡库拉矿山还将实施矿床中心高品位分层充填采矿，以进一步提升高品位矿石采掘量，争取实现从地下直接运送高品位矿石到选矿厂。目前，卡库拉选厂施工进展顺利，土木工程已接近完成，机械设备搭建和安装有序推进。
卡莫阿-卡库拉正与多方就铜精矿的销售和冶炼方案进行详细讨论。卡库拉将会生产极高品位的清洁铜精矿，成为世界各地铜冶炼厂重点关注的高质量产品。目前冶金测试结果显示，按全球标准，卡库拉精矿含砷量极低，约为0.01%。
卡库拉选厂计划于2021年第三季度生产首批铜精矿，预期成为全球品位最高的大型铜矿，初始年处理矿量380万吨，投产后前5年平均给矿铜品位约6%以上。卡库拉是卡莫阿-卡库拉项目400平方公里开采许可范围内，规划的多个高品位矿区中的首产矿山。卡库拉矿山将全面使用清洁、可再生水电，力争成为全球每单位铜的温室气体排放量最低的矿山之一。
