Zijin Mining has donated 11 million yuan to support flood relief and post-disaster reconstruction efforts in the counties of Shanghang and Wuping in Fujian Province, following a devastating rainstorm on June 16. The company also mobilized mine rescue teams from its local subsidiaries to assist affected communities, underscoring its ongoing commitment to the region’s development and welfare.

The unprecedented heavy rainfall in the two counties in South China caused severe natural disasters, leading to casualties, flooding, damage to farmland infrastructure, and power outages.

In response, Zijin Mining swiftly mobilized local subsidiaries for rescue and recovery. More than a hundred professional rescue workers from the Zijinshan Gold and Copper Mine were sent to multiple townships for rescue and assistance, along with additional teams from Zijin Construction, Wuping Zijin, and Zijin Engineering Technology. These teams helped clear roads, remove debris, and assist affected communities.

Shanghang is the birthplace of Zijin Mining. As a longtime supporter of the county’s development, Zijin has invested heavily in local economic growth and social projects. Since transitioning to a join-stock company in 2000, Zijin has contributed 21.6 billion yuan in taxes and 10.5 billion yuan in dividends to the county, aiding Shanghang’s transformation from a national-level poverty-stricken county to a leading economic region in China. The company supports various charitable initiatives in the county, including rural development, education, and healthcare. Notably, it has provided more than 160 million yuan for one program alone - a financial aid initiative for the elderly and orphans in Shanghang.
