The ecological conditions are notorious in the biological heap leaching site of high sulfur and low copper ore, resulting in directly ecological restoration almost impossible. The idea of "treating waste by waste" was adapted to tackle this problem. The wastes were utilized as artificial soil matrix for ecological restoration. By improving the artificial soil matrix and selecting local plants with strong tolerance, artificial vegetation community was established and then realized natural succession in the stocking yard. This approach shoots two hawks with one arrow, not only stabilizing the slope and controlling soil erosion of the storage yard, but also realizing the resource utilization of mine waste. A demonstration base has been established in Zijinshan gold and copper mine.
