Bulk mineralogy and gold deportment of a copper-gold ore
A copper-gold ore with gold head grade of 2.06 g/t exhibited poor gold recovery (less than 40%) in copper concentrate. Mineralogical investigation results revealed that the main reason for low gold recovery is that 46% gold is in pyrite mainly as invisible gold. Hence, we suggested to increase the copper concentrate yield in order to enhance gold recovery by recovering some more amount of pyrite into copper concentrate but maintaining reasonable copper grade. On the other hand, it is predicated that the improvement in gold recovery should be limited since gold in pyrite (3.5g/t) in pyrite is much lower than that (11.7g/t) in copper sulfide.。
