The Mineral Processing Division is one of core divisions of Zijin Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy /Xiamen Zijin Technology of Mining and Metallurgy Ltd., State Key Laboratory of Comprehensive Utilization of Low-Grade Refractory Gold Ores. 


The Division currently has a multi-disciplinary group of scientists and engineers specializing in mineral processing, chemical engineering and organic chemistry, and is well equipped with laboratory platforms for gravity separation, magnetic separation, bench-scale flotation and continuous piloting flotation separation testing.  
MPD is devoted to provide world-class applied research and deliver innovative solutions to address the challenges in mining industry. The Division offers high-efficiency beneficiation technology, novel flotation reagents development, process investigation, plant survey, both laboratory and field services to help our customers achieve positive and sustainable development. Since its establishment, the Division has provided technical services for worldwide mining subsidiaries of Zijin Group Co. and has undertaken more than 200 scientific research projects. 

 

1. Research direction:
 

(1) Development and optimization of flowsheet, beneficiation process, and piloting scale testing;
(2) Promotion and application of new equipment;
(3) Research, development and application of new flotation reagents;
(4) Research on process control, simulation and automation in beneficiation.


 2.Testworks:
 

(1)Gravity and magnetic separation

Conventional gravity processing methods, such as shaking table, spiral chute;
High-efficient centrifugal separation by Knelson Concentrators, especially for gravity recoverable gold (GRG) testing;
Magnetic separators with different magnetic intensity, including magnetic tube, wet feebleness magnetic separation machine, and high-gradient magnetic separator etc.

 

(2)Flotation:

Batch flotation cells available in volume from 0.2L to 20L and multi-compartment cells (Jilin, and Wuhan manufacturers, China);
Expertise in open-circuit and locked-cycle flotation testing;
Continuous piloting plant flotation testing (Shang hang, China) ;
Flotation parameters optimization, such as process flowsheet adjustment (rougher, scavenger, cleaner, flotation time etc.), reagent schemes (collector, depressant, modifier, frother etc.), particle size determination (primary griding, regrinding and ultrafine grinding).


(3)Comminution:

Ultra-fine mill 
High-pressure grinding roll 
JK falling weight impact test device
JKSIMET beneficiation and grinding process simulation and optimization software (monitor and determine specific parameters for ore comminution process)

3. Main process technical services:


(1) Efficient separation and comprehensive utilization of complex polymetallic sulfide ore
For the complex and refractory Cu-Pb-Zn polymetallic and associated precious metal sulfide ores, we can provide efficient and effective beneficiation packages. At present, a set of solutions, such as bulk and selective flotation, differential flotation, ultra-fine grinding, flash flotation, effective copper collector and lead depressant , etc. are available to solve process and operation issues. All  such technical solution packages have been successfully applied in our Zijin mining industry, creating significant economic benefits for enterprises. 


(2) Novel high-efficiency flotation technology for refractory oxide copper ore
For the refractory sulfide-oxide mixed copper ore, we offer a new scheme of " first sulfide and following oxide, sulfide/oxide copper sequential flotation" integrating with bulk flotation, desliming, magnetic separation. Our novel solution is able to recover as high as 85% Cu from refractory oxide copper ore, creating great economic benefits for the enterprises.


(3)New high-efficiency flotation technology for arsenic-bearing low grade refractory gold ore
For the arsenic-bearing micro-fine refractory gold ore, we provide novel flotation schemes (electrochemistry, carrier-flotation, flash-flotation, ultra-fine grinding, etc.), new reagents (gold promotor, arsenic depressant, pH and ORP modifier etc.) and beneficiation-metallurgy combined process. 


(4)Diagnosis and optimization of comminution systems
We deliver services of examination, diagnosis and optimization for crushing, grinding and classification, such as determination of ore comminution performance, optimization of SAG mill process, ball mill grinding and classification parameters, and charging ball system in mill, so as to achieve "more crushing and less grinding" objective, maximize system capacity, improve beneficiation performance and reduce energy cost.


(5)Field services 
We offer site technical services with our available technological packages for our clients and have established long-term cooperation relationship with many mines. Our scientific researchers root in field and provide comprehensive technical services, such as stabilizing process and optimizing performance, investigating beneficiation process, applying new process, new reagent and new equipment, etc..
